Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch 6855 Ethernet Hardened LAN Switch models are industrial grade, managed, Gigabit Ethernet switches designed to operate reliably in harsh electrical and severe temperature environments.

This superior, rugged hardware design coupled with the widely deployed and field proven Alcatel-Lucent Operating System (AOS), makes OmniSwitch 6855 ideal for industrial and mission-critical applications that require wider operating temperatures, more stringent EMC/EMI requirements and optimized features set for high security, reliability, performance and easy management.

The target applications for these versatile LAN switches are power utilities, transportation and traffic control systems, industrial factory floor installations, video surveillance systems and outdoor installations, which all require gigabit backbone connectivity.

 

• Specially designed for harsh environments, the OmniSwitch 6855 has wider operating temperatures, meets or exceeds stringent EMC/EMI requirements and is optimized for high security, reliability, performance and ease of management.
• Ruggedized hardware design: This military strength design withstood extreme shock and vibration, temperature and electromagnetic emission and conduction tests.
• Convection cooling fan-less models: These models use convection cooling which means there's no need for noisy fans. This provides for lower acoustic levels and cost savings.
• 802.3af compliant PoE: This feature enables converged applications by providing power to IP phones, surveillance cameras, and wireless access points. It also eliminates costs associated with the mid-span patch panel.
• Redundancy at all levels: From power supplies, to software, to hot swappable SFPs, the OS6855s are a field upgradeable solution that ensures the network is highly available preventing failures that affect service.
• Wire-rate switching and routing: Outstanding performance is required to support real-time voice, data, and video applications on converged networks.
• Extensive security: The OmniSwitch 6855 offers networks a full secured edge through extensive security capabilities that provide network access control, policy enforcement and attack containment.
• Models are equipped with up to 24 gigabit ports and four combo ports. Gigabit ports are available in industrial-strength PoE copper, non-PoE copper and small form pluggable (SFP) fiber configurations. Combo ports are individually configurable to be 10/100/1000BaseT or 100/1000BaseX and support 1000BaseX or 100BaseX SFP optical transceivers for short, long and very long distances.
